Many dog owners treat their dogs just like their children. We see dogs in places that they are not typically allowed all the time. These are not your run-of-the-mill dogs that enjoy comfortable lives of playing outside and digging in the dirt like country dogs. These dogs are well maintained and are typically the apples of their owner’s eyes. These dogs could be considered pampered and spoiled but nonetheless very well looked after and taking care of. They have very specific haircuts, their nails are trimmed, they are very clean, and they smell good.

Large Dogs Can Look Well-Maintained Too

We stereotype these dogs as prissy, pampered, spoiled, and somewhat over the top. This is not always the case. Many dog owners own large breeds who take the exact same time, effort, and care in their golden retrievers, labs, and pit bulls that small dog owners put into theirs. The difference is we do not see there larger dog breeds in public area because they are much harder to conceal in public places. A pitbull is not a pocket or purse dog like a Pomeranian. This does not mean that their owners do not make sure that they are healthy, happy, and well groomed. It just means they can’t always show them off in public. Large dog breeds do tend to be a little less on the prissy side because they are so much more full of energy and require a lot more playtime and outside time to exert their energy which also means they get dirtier quicker. It’s not as easy to put a great Pyrenees in the bathtub as it is a Maltese.
